The moon dragon is a goddess who flies around the Earth. She circumscribes it every 28 days or so. She is literally the moon.

Drachfen recognize the moon dragon as their protector. They look to her for guidance and center many events around her phases.

The drachfen say that they came from ancient wolves whose religion involved the rivers and the sea. Long ago, the moon dragon chose a wolf from the Pack of the Creek to bless with wings. During a famine, yow was able to feed both yar own pack and the other pack in the valley, the Pack of the Deep, by flying very far away to find food. Many generations down the line, a great schism in the valley caused some wolves to seek new ways, while others did not want to abandon the old. The restless wolves named their pack the Pack of Dragon, while the other wolves named their pack the Pack of Truth. In the Pack of Dragon, another wolf like the moon-blessed one was born. Soon after yow grew up, the wolf packs crumbled and many wolves wandered in small bands. The wolf, having wandered long, was guided by the moon to the sea. It was yar offspring, drachfen say, who were the first true dragons.

eclipses

Every so often, the moon dragon crashes into the sun, snuffing it out and causing a solar eclipse. When this happens, the [[igneous drachfen]] must work together to relight the sun and restore light to the Earth. The moon dragon continues on her way afterward.
